L’Estartit has been protected from urban development, preserving numerous green spaces, wetlands, and pristine beaches without any construction. While there are certainly beachfront apartments, you can walk along the beach and coastal dunes without encountering any buildings, always enjoying the natural beauty of the Medes Islands.

In the center of the village, originally a fishing village, lies Molinet Beach, a rocky beach with crystal-clear waters, accessible only on foot. Continuing south, you’ll find the port with its fishing boats, excursions to the Medes Islands (with their glass bottom), the numerous diving schools in Estartit, and the motorboats and sailboats available for hire. It’s ideal for a relaxing family getaway, even in autumn and winter. In this area, you can take mountain excursions to the castle and L’Escala, following marked hiking or cycling routes.

One and a half kilometers from the town center, continuing along the beach, is the “Els Griells” residential area. Here you’ll find several supermarkets, restaurants, and shops selling newspapers and beach equipment, but without the urban crowds, bars, or nightclubs. It’s much quieter than the town center. Continuing south across the Ter River, we find the “Mas Pinell” residential area, still within the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí. It’s an extremely peaceful spot, with brand-new houses facing the beach and a large campsite, “El Delfin Verde.”

To get there by car, drive to Torroella de Montgrí, cross the bridge, head towards Pals, and 2 km from Torroella de Montgrí, just at the bend where the Empordà Golf Club is located, turn left towards the Mas Pinell residential area and Mas Pinell Beach. This residential area has a beach bar and a restaurant/bar open during the summer months. It’s a very quiet area.

There is no supermarket open. Sometimes you can access the campsite supermarket, but not always; otherwise, you have to drive about 4 km to the supermarket. The rest of the area consists of apartments and houses on the beachfront and nearby.

There is no bridge, but in summer, if the Ter River is running low, as is usual, you can cross it along the beach, since a sandbar forms, even by bicycle on the sand (not by car).

If we continue walking south, we’ll cross a small stream, “Rec de Moli,” and reach Pals Beach, which is deeper than Estartit Beach. From there, we have to follow the rocks until we reach the nudist beach of Pals. This marks the end of the route from L’Estartit, as Cap de Begur cannot be accessed from the beach due to the rocky terrain. It’s a good walk… If you’re too tired to walk back, you can always take a taxi from Pals.
